Welcome to my blog!
My name is Brady Sanders. I’m 23 years old, I recently earned my bachelor’s degree in Film from San Francisco State University, and I spend a pretty unreasonable amount of time watching Turner Classic Movies.
I’ve loved classic Hollywood for as long as I can remember. There’s something about that era - the studio system, the movie stars, the craftsmanship - that still feels alive to me. TCM has honestly been one of the biggest reasons that my love for classic Hollywood has grown. It’s where I’ve discovered so many of my favorite films. I’m also a pretty devoted Criterion collector, which should tell you everything you need to know.
I wanted to start this blog because I don’t always have a place to write out my thoughts about what TCM is programming each week. In my day-to-day life, I check the schedule constantly. I plan events around it. I try to watch at least 10-15 TCM movies a week. Sometimes I agree with their themes. Sometimes I don’t. Sometimes I discover something I’ve never even heard of.
This feels like the right space to talk about that.
Each week, I’ll be writing about TCM’s lineup: what stands out, what I’m excited for, what I think is essential viewing, and what might surprise you. I’m not trying to be overly academic about it. I just want to engage with the programming in real time and hopefully connect with other people who care about these movies the same way I do.
In other words, if you’re someone who keeps TCM on in the background or plans your evenings around a 35mm print airing at midnight, then this blog is probably for you.
